The best screen capture software to take screen shots

Need a flexible and powerful screen capture software for Windows? My favourite screen capture tool is Greenshot and it’s jsut reached version 1.0.

Greenshot Screen Capture Tool for Screen ShotsWhat set’s it apart is it’s ability to improve your productivity by taking a minimalist approach.

There’s no heavy programs, just press one of the customisable hot keys (such as Prnt Scrn or CTRL+Prnt Scrn) and it will take a screenshot of an area, a window or a region.

Once you’ve captured the screen, a little popup window [optinonaly] appears where you can

  • Save the file as PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP or TIFF
  • Paste file into Microsoft Office or other program
  • Upload the screen shot to Dropbox, Imgur, Jira, Box, Flickr or Picasa or send to email.
  • Open in the inbuilt editor where you can crop, rotate, highlight, add text, draw, and much more.

As you would expect from such a well thought out screen shot tool, there are lots of options to help manage the way it works.

This is fantastic open source software that the whole community should be proud off. Great work by the whole team!

Freely download of Greenshot at http://getgreenshot.org/.
